Iron Instructions
1. Fill extraction tube to
7 ml with universal extracting solution.
2. Use the plastic soil
measure to add 1 level measures of the soil sample. Cap and shake for one
minute.
3.
Use filter paper and
plastic funnel to filter soil into another extraction tube.
4. Label the extraction
tube.
5. Make sure this is done
for all 10 soil samples.
6.
To perform iron test
use a chemical testing kit. Click on this link for a list of materials that you
will need.
7. Put
four drops of general soil extract to one of the larger depressions on a spot
plate.
8. Use
.05 gram spoon to add one level measure of iron reagent powder and mix.
9. Add one drop of Ferric
iron test solution and mix.
10.
Match resulting color
with the ferric iron color chart.
11.
Make sure the data is
in pounds per acre.
12.
Repeat these steps for
all the soil samples.
